Wat Prathat Doi Suthep
According to legend, the site was selected by a sacred white elephant in the 14th century.
Released from the city gates, he climbed the mountain outside of Chiang Mai, trumpeted three times, turned around three times, then kneeled down and died.
The temple was built on the site and remains a stunning example of achitecture from the Lanna Kingdom.
